Where did the name Hostage Lures come from?
Back in the late 90's-early 21st century I owned and operated a small lure company. I hand crafted offshore trolling lures that I sold where ever I could. Needless to say, I couldn't compete with the mass producing countries like China, so production fell by the wayside. The company was called Hostage Lures, and it even had a slogan---"Take a Hostage...Demand more fish"--- I thought it was a great name for the company, and it really did work well for the slogan. It's funny when people first hear it, they kind of wonder suspiciously about me and my intentions. Especially the police department. Well, to make a longer story shorter this is basically where the name came from. You are probably wondering what any of this has to do with charter fishing. I kept the name because I hope one day to merge my charter service and lure production together on a larger scale. Hopefully I will be operating Hostage Lures from a big-ass bait and tackle store where people who have boats on trailers can actually park, and a place that actually opens way before the sun rises so that people can get to the fish earlier. Around here, it seems, nobody who owns a tackle shop wants to get out of bed before 6 am. The fish don't sleep in, why should they? Anyhow, If ever I do get my own tackle store, you can rest assured that I will be open by 4 am if not earlier.
...And in case you are wondering, I still have a shitload of lures I made that are available for purchase, and if you want to design something I can do that too.
