Many people have the hardest time with Navigation (Chart-work, Plotting, LOP's, etc.),  because it involves math. Don't be scared, it's easy once you understand how to apply it. If you can add and subtract, then you can navigate!!

 Navigation (Charting), Deck general (Seamanship), Rules of the Road, and/or Safety are all subjects that must be well understood before the Coast Guard will issue a license. You can only take each section of the exam three times, and after the third try, if you fail, you will be required to pay for another round of classes that you must attend if you choose to pursue a license. Let me help you pass it the first time !

* $15.00 per hour *

 If you are a student currently enrolled in the Professional Mariner Training program at Chapman School of Seamanship, your cost is only $10.00 per hour. Students, please call as soon as you realize you are having difficulties, as I know they give you a lot to take in at one time. I will help you sort out the info, and make it understandable. I specialize in navigation, including celestial!!

Please remember this: "Having a captain's license does not mean that you know all there is to know about being a captain. It is merely a license to LEARN!!"---Captain Heather (Chapman Instructor 11-15-03)

 I also provide tutoring for those who are generally interested in the science of navigation.

If you are in the market to buy a new or used power boat, I am available to help you decide/choose which vessel is right for you, what cost is appropriate and what the better deal for you might be.

If you recently purchased a power boat and would like some help "getting the hang of it" give me a call or e-mail. I will help you understand the basics of power boat handling so that you can more easily enjoy your vessel.
